They like plenty of manure, dig a trench a foot deep, throw in any old composted material, lay some soil on top of this, and set your plants, or seed refill trench.Put out plenty of canes, or stakes, once started they will wind themselves around these. Sticks want to be around 7 feet high. Leaves yellowish green ? I dont know, could be variaty ?. Give them a good feed of sulhate of potash
Runner beans aren't fussy about the soil but they do need some plant food. I've grown them in everything from light sand to heavy clay. They prefer a good loamy soil thats not too dry or wet.
The leaves could be yellowish if you've had a lot of wet weather, or if they're too dry around the roots so poke your finger in the soil and see whats going on. It can also be caused by magnesium deficiency (I think thats right) whgich you can correct by getting a pot of epsom salts from the chemist. Use at the rate of 4 tablespoons per gallon.
Also try using something like blood fish and bone or poultry pellets to feed them.
