Need to keep critters from digging in planters.?

Question:I would prefer a natural way to do this, I am not into trapping or harming animals. They are ruining my flowers.

Answers:
Get what is called fox urine. This will detour any small animals. You can find it on line or at Lowe's or Home Depot.
It is organic and will not harm anything.

Shoot them, and leave thier bodies there as a deterrent.
try fencing the plants with broken glass bottles .once bruised the animals may avoid coming again
Sprinkle ground cayenne pepper around. they don't like the smell or taste and does not harm them at all.
buy wire mesh cut it to size of the pot you can get the hole size of about 1/4 inch

cut a hole for the plant you may need a wire cutter to cut the heaver mesh
I have been doing flowers for years and have many flower beds and a garden, plus many planters. The only solution is a old one, but it works. Not harmful to critters. Human hair or pet hair. They do not like it and will not come back. Promise!!!!
You might try putting out small bowls of either vinegar or ammonia in the planters. If you use small bowls you can hide them behind the flowers or plants. The animals have sensitive noses and they should detect the odor and avoid your planters.
