What's the best way to sharpen kitchen knives? What's the best knife to get so you don't have to worry...

Question:about it getting dull? Thanks.

Answers:
The best way to sharpen kitchen knives is to have them sharpened by a pro. Honing on the other hand can be done at home with a honing rod. Hold the knife against the rod at a 20 degree angle and draw it towards you five times on one side; then the other. Then three times each, two each, one each. Done.

Buy a good knife made of high carbon steel. I use Wustoff's.

b4_999 has the right solutions, all of them. I also have a Wustof and use the sharpening rod every time before I use the knife. It will help keep it from getting dull. I bought my knife at Bed, Bath & Beyond but you can go to Foodnetwork.com and order the one's you want online.
I agree with b4_999. Stainless knives look pretty but do not hold an edge. I have included a link that tells a lot about kitchen knives. Just click on it.
