How can I get rid of ants and other bugs on my porch?

Question:Tonight I went out on my porch and there were tons of ants and aunts that looked like they had wings. It was nasty. They were everywhere. It is just a cement porch and there is nothing there to attract them that I know of, no food or anything. How do I get rid of them. It was like a bad horror movie dream... icky! Me don't like bugs!

Answers:
Since you say there are lots of ants I doubt they are termites. Termites and ants are related so they act alike and even look alike to a point.

It is the season for ants to swarm just like termites. They are mating.

Ants love to makes nests under concrete slabs and rocks. The heat from the sun hitting the slab keeps their larva warm. Your best bet is ant bait. They take it in their nest and feed on it. A few days later they start to die off. If you are lucky the queen will eat some and die. The the colony is dead.

If all else fails you will need to call in a pest control company. ask for Termidor it works great on ants.

Sweep the porch and then sprinkle borax around. This is a safe method to getting rid of the buggies without resorting to other harsher chemicals.

there are candles with scent u can get from home depot for all kinds of insects. the ants dig on the crack of the sidewalk n ull see a colony of htem comin out when that happens dump buckets of water and they would move away into another spot and most of them would die.
Bad news, if they had wings, they aren't ants, they're termites. Termites swarm this time of year to create new colonies. It's time to call the pest control company, so they can find the nest and kill them before they damage your homes wood. There are 3 ways to kill termites by pest control companies:
1) Tent the house and pump in poison gas that kills the termites
2) Local treatment of the colony with termite poison
3) Orange oil treatment injected into the wood around your homes the termites are killed by coming in contact with the Orange oil, orange oil dissipates in about 6 weeks.

Good luck, had to deal with termites every so often in our home.
Hmmm, they could be either swarming ants or termites. You will need to look at them closely to see for sure. Here is a website with great pictures that shows you how to tell the difference. http://www.terminix.com/services/termite...
Ants started entering cracks in my kitchen door to get at the dog food! They were coming up from underneath my patio outside the door. I poured boiling water over them twice (soaked the patio wood good so that it poured underneath). It not only boiled them but I think I removed their scent trail which they all follow to the food source. Anyway. I stuck an ant-bait outside the door, but they haven't come back to eat it!
