The insects that make the loud BZZZZZ in the summer. What are they called?


Question:In the summer sometimes you can hear a loud BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ... that seemingly randomly start and stop. Im pretty sure it's caused by an insect. What insect makes that annoying buzz?

Answers:
Cicada. Some people call them locusts, but Cicada is correct. They come out of the ground, crawl up in the trees, come out of their shell, dry their wings and fly.

Those are cicadas ( pronounced see-kadas ). We here them frequently here in AZ when it a monsoon is approaching.
