Would you keep your loved ones ashes at home?

Question:Would it make you feel better if you did?

Answers:
That is a hard question really as i wouldn't know unless i was in that situation

yes i have my fathers
My sis has her dogs and yes I see no reason why not.
My mum & dad have my nans & aunties ashes at home, they are not really sure where to scatter then so I guess they will hang on to them.
I've got two boxes containing the ashes of our last two dogs in the cupboard under the stairs. Yes, I'd be up for a complete collection.
Not really. It would just be a pot filled with ashes. I suppose some people might fool themselves into thinking a part of ther loved one was with them which would be rubbish.
If that is what they wished of course, personally i wish to be cast into the reservoir that feeds my town that all shall drink of me.
When my father died, we had him cremated, and his ashes buried (per my mom's request). It would not, however, bother me if I had them in the house.

I did have my 21 year old cat cremated when he died, and his ashes are in a cedar box on the mantle.

I am planning on being cremated also, but I want my ashes scattered.
i was on about this to friends a few weeks ago, i said i wanted hubby's (after he has passed away that is) at home with me, they all called me morbid and strange, but i think it will be great as there's nowhere suitable i could spread them.
i think it will be a comfort.like he is still with me.
other people may disagree but thats how i feel anyway.
My mate has his dads in the garage, and another acquittance has his wife in the front room! I suppose its just a personal thing, me i wouldn't have them about the dead with the dead and the living together.
No, it wouldn't make me feel any better. I feel once the life has gone, the rest is a shell, and not very important. I would prefer to scatter the ashes somewhere beautiful and use the place as a memory, rather than a cold jar sitting on a shelf.
No . They were for a while then we had a memorial plot in a garden of remembrance and had the ashes interred there. The plot means that all the family can go to visit when it suits them and to leave flowers
I would say if a loved wanted to be cremated they would surely have somewhere in mind they would want o be scattered? I personally would feel they would be imprisoned in the urn or vase they would be in.
Yes. I have my uncle's ashes on my entertainment center.
,I have known people to keep loved ones ashes at home, sometimes it is because when they them selves go they wont both lot of ashes buried together, sometimes they put them in their garden and plant a shrub on top, what ever they do it is there choice if they wont them close,I think it is very personnel, and you should not ask questions.
i would hope my loved one would not want me to keep their ashes around, i do not like that idea. i guess i just like to think that if i want to feel close to a person that has died, i can just think about them and 'talk to them' in my head...not sit by the charred remains of the body that failed to keep them around!
it would not make me feel better.
No, I would return them to the earth by scattering them somewhere meaningful. That would be the thing that would make me feel better. My grandma has my grandfathers ashes under a tree in her back garden...I think that's nice idea, they're still close to her but not right in the house.
yes def.
sorry for your lose if you have had one, you didnt state.

Take care xx
Many people keep the cremated remains of their loved one at home for several reasons. Some of the reasons include; they need additional time to mourn the loss, they are undecided about how or where to place the cremated remains, they may wish to have some of the remains given to another family member (that is done occasionally), they may wish to keep the remains until they pass away and the the remains placed in their casket, they may wish to scatter the remains at a vacation or remote site, and at times it is for financial reasons.
It is a personal decision and we should all respect them and their wishes.
