Does soft water from a water softener hurt vegetable plants in a garden?

Question:

Answers:
It won't hurt them but they like nutrients. You can buy the vegetable nutrients and spray them on, (Miracle grow) or use 'feeder stakes' and place them in the ground around the plants. That way when you water them they are still getting 'fed'.

Well water works best on vegetables because of the nutrients in the water.

No, there is no salt residue in soft water.

But softener discharge is bad as there is a high salinity.
The typical ion exchange water softener (the most popular type) produces water with a somewhat high concentration of either Sodium or Potassium with the former being the most common. People with heart problems usually use Potassium salt instead. The Potassium is good for plants although I don't remember if that is for roots or blooms. Ask a gardener or nursery about the sodium. Also, if the water isn't very hard, then the concentration of either of these will be low and probably won't make a difference. But I would take this question to a nursery.
I don't think so.
