How soon do herbs need to be planted in the season, is it too late?

Question:I do not want to delay much more, but if I planted within the next week, would they be ready in a month?

Answers:
you would only be able to grow them from seedlings. seeds would take too long to grow at this point.

if you are starting from seeds yea its late you wont have a good harvest of herbs for at least 2 months or more.

The best way to grow herbs is in a pot that can be moved outside in the spring and back in before the first frost.
Depending where you live and your climate, but it is not to late to plant herbs, and they grow pretty fast, but I do not know if they will be ready in a month. I used to grow oregano. basil parsley, and they all grow pretty fast, but it took about 2 months to get the plants to maturity.
Almost every major city or town has a plant nursery. Go there (or phone) and ask about herbs already growing in pots. They will cost maybe a dollar or two, but you will have instant access to using them in cooking, etc. You may then repot them in a larger pot, or into the ground. After they are replanted, they will grow fast.
Depending on the herb and where you live it may vary. Have a look at http://www.enjoyherbs.com . This site has a lot of information on Propagation / planting (cutting, seed etc) , soild preparating.
