Does anyone know the recommended temp for the AC for summertime?
Question:My parents and I live with my aunt and cousin. My aunt wants the AC at 68 like she did the heater. I've heard the recommended setting for summer is between 78 and 82. My aunt says that is too hot. When I had my own place back east, my AC was set at 80 and my house was perfect. Any ideas?

Too many people in one house with different ideas!!! The aunt wants to be cold and everyone else wants to be comfortable. The correct setting is whatever makes "everyone" comfortable and what you can afford to pay for electric!!
Basically 'they' say that 70-72 degrees is a generally good temperature all year round - whether heating or colling your home.
Optimal summer AC temperature is probably more of an individual personal choice. Go with what feels right! Enjoy!
Depends on where you live. I live in Texas and I keep my AC on 75 and I keep the heat on 75 as well. It keeps the bill lower and in a new house, keeps nail pops from happening. So once you have a set temp, keep it there and it saves on energy used to cool or heat the house.
According to one utility (and it sounds reasonable) this is recommended: Set the air conditioning thermostat at 78 degrees or your highest comfortable setting. Higher settings cost less; lower settings cost more. Each degree up or down makes a big difference in cost. Raise the temperature 2 or 3 degrees higher than your normal setting when you’re away on weekdays
One thing not mentioned is humidity. If the humidity in the house is over 50%, it will feel warmer and less than 50% it starts to feel cooler. The airconditoner needs to be sized correctly to maintain low humidity or you could get a de-humidfier for the house.
However, if you are living with your aunt in her house, she should make the rules. You might want to get evidence to show her how much it costs her, but you really have not right to tell her what temp to set the ac.
Good luck
It is recommended to keep it as high as is comfortable for you! The lower the setting(for cooling) the more energy is used. We normally run ours at about 78. Once the AC wrings out the humidity the house is much more comfortable than outside! :-)=
if your home is well insulated keep it about 75-77.
I live in Texas and it's freakin' hot here, but my home is well insulated.
Set it where you are comfortable otherwise
I have mine at 72 and wen Im not at home I set it on 80
