What kind of soil does black bamboo like?

Question:

Answers:
Black Bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra) prefers half sun, half shade if growing in the ground. It is a running bamboo - rhizomes will run sideways in moist earth unless restrained with a root barrier.

It is tolerant of various soils, but It prefers heavier, rich soils that can be kept evenly moist but not waterlogged. Once the plants are established they are fairly drought tolerant; however they need to be kept watered until they have a proper foothold. Minimum soil depth required for a healthy plant is 6". Unrestrained rhizome depth in moist soil is 12"
