What's the best way to fix uneven Air conditioning air flow?

Question:one side of our house has the master bed room , 3 bedrooms and a den. Our AC unit is just over the doors to the MBedroom. THis room cools fine but as you go down the hallway the rooms get harder to cool.

We SHut the vents in the master and then the other rooms cool fine but then we have a horrible whistling notes.

If I put some sort of strap or bungee cord around the silver foiled tube that takes air to my master, would the help to restrict airflow enough to get more in the other rooms?

any other ideas/ thoughts?

Some systems have a damper in the duct (not the vents in the register), which you can close partially or completely to reduce the airflow into that duct. That should make more air flow into the other rooms, without the annoying whistling sound. Go up into your attic and check for a small lever near where the duct to the master bedroom connects to the system. If you find it, turn it sideways so it's perpendicular to the duct (or just halfway if you still want some airflow in the MB).
You may want to check the seams in your ducting. There shouldn't be that much of a difference. You may have seams that are leaking airflow. Tape them shut with duct tape. You'd be surprised at the difference it makes.
