What does vinegar & water do to ANTS? ANT PROBLEM?
Question:I have been spotting a few ants in my kitchen lately. It's been driving me insane because i'm quite the germ-aphobe unlike the rest of my family! I read mixing vinegar and water can help get rid of them but WHAT EXACTLY DOES THIS DO THE ANTS TO GET RID OF THEM? I tried it... and around my dog's food bowl, I saw the ants moving really fast and crazy lol - why so?
Answers:
Ants navigate by using chemical trails. They detect the trail by using thier antenae. When you spray vinegar on the area, it removes the chemical trail and makes them burn a little.
DO NOT USE BLEACH WITH AMMONIA! IT PRODUCES A TOXIC GAS THAT CAN KILL YOU! Please ignore Kalligal's answer! It would be a deadly mistake!
Never tried that one,but baking soda is good, and believe it or not beer.
Vinegar is a mild acid, maybe it burns them, I can't stand the smell.
use salt and water=) the salt kills them.
if you wanna kill ants get an old bottle(febreze will work)pour bleach, water, and pine sol on it (if dont have pinesol ammonia will work)spray the spot were yousee the ants an trust me they will die then and there.if they continue trie to use less water
They freak out because the acid in the vinegar burns their little feet.
