Do you think it 's safe to rebuild a house that was underwater 2 weeks and left to grow mold in New Orleans?

Question:In New Orleans homes were flooded with polluted water for two weeks and left to grow toxic mold. Some companies really clean it up better than others. However the same exterior walls remain. How is it possible that the mold won't recur and the structure be as strong after the wood swelled and shrunk and possibly loosened the nails. Water pressure against the walls would also be a problem.

I would ask yourself this question... if the neighborhood was underwater in 1965 when the levies broke and underwater in 2005 when the levies broke, does it really make sense to put time, effort & money into a property that may well get destroyed once again?

I wouldn't advise it. I believe it is as about as safe as sawing a limb off a tree while setting on the sawing side. I believe it will cost you a lot of money in the future.
