What steps will I need to remove a dry fire hydrant?

Question:I m looking to "borrow" a fire hydrant. I have selected a few that either have no chance of being needed in the near future or removing one and reporting it missing so it is replaced immediately.

Answers:
Let's forget the fact that you are putting someone's life at risk because the fire department wouldn't find water when they needed it. You can't remove a fire hydrant without turning off the water underneath the street. There's enough pressure there that you're liable to end up with no teeth or a fire hydrant implanted in your brain if you try to remove it.
