Lava Lamp trouble?

Question:I love lava lamps and one of them seems to be broken. The wax all floats to the top and just stays there as a blob, not dropping or anything. I haven't shaken it, or dropped it. Someone once told me that the more you use it the better it works, is this true?

Answers:
sounds like the bulb is too much wattage, like getting too hot, get a lower watt bulb.

prob needs a stronger bulb...I dunno though
Yes, it's true. Are you leaving it on long enough to get warm? The only time I have known them not to work is if they have been knocked over. Is it possible someone else did and they didn't tell you?
The wax drops when it cools and floats back up when it melts. Did you change the bulb? If the bulb is too big (wattage) then the water may stay too hot for the wax to cool down at the top and drop.

yeah it takes a little while for it to heat up, then the wax should start moving around.
