Why are there so many house flies this year?
Question:Is it just my house or are there thousands more flies this summer. Could it be because of the now fortnightly rubbish collections? I have my bins cleaned out everytime they are emptied. I have put stickers on the windows in the kitchen to attract and then kill the the flies and I have just put up some sticky fly papers up but I dont think anyone has told the flies thay are supposed to land on them. What do I do? they are driving me crazy!

i have loads of flies too but i havent opened any of my doors or havent got any windows open where are they getting in? its horrible im trying to do the childrens lunch and have got flies buzzing . around the kitchen, who do they think they are and they dont pay rent just shite in your food. lol
I'm in Spain and they collect the trash every night here. Also we seem to have a lot less flies then usual. I think what's happened is the Spanish flies heard that they only collect once every two weeks in the UK, they also got p.d with the nightly collections here, so they emigrated to the UK for a better life. Sort of the opposite to what I did.
WOW, I thought it was just me. I am in Maryland and there are flies all over the place. The more I kill the I see. Big flies, small flies, and like you they are driving me crazy too.
What I plan to do is get some insect bombs while I'm gone all day. Hopefully that will work. I don't know why it's so bad this year.
Get a bait trap, cover the garbage, and get screen doors.
One issue is that there was almost no frost last winter, so flies were able to breed much earlier than usual. There are huge numbers of slugs and snails in the garden - probably for the same reason.
