Replacement value of mature trees?
Question:We were sprayed with 2-4D by a spray plane for the third year in a row. This is the second time this particular company has sprayed us and they asked what we would settle for. It is in the process of killing two 15 ft mature apricot trees and did damage to several other things. How do we find out how much a mature tree is worth?
Answers:
go to a reputable landscape nursery (not a chain) and ask what a tree in that size would be if you bought it at his/her nursery - I wouldn't call, go in person. Be sure to ask if the price includes installation - installation on a tree that size will be costly and the chain store will not be able to help you.
They will be more willing to help you if you are in person and since you are getting a quote, they may be more willing to help if they think they could have your business.
You want the replacement to be from a reputable place - one that backs/guarantees their product
most trees are about 100.00 per ring.
ring= if you cut the tree how many rings you would see.
or you could figure 100.00 per inch in diamater.
since it was fruit trees you might go 150.00 per inch
There is a tree loss calculator at this website. http://www.agecon.ucdavis.edu/outreach/t...
I would contact a reputable local forester to come and do a damage assessment. I work for a forester and we run across these problems every so often.Good Luck!
Simply call a nursery and tell them what you want, and ask for a price.
Full size trees are not cheap. The job of installing one can be thousands of dollars if it involves renting a crane..
