What is an estat sale??

Question:Does anyone know what an estate sale is, how they work, and how I can find some in my area?? I read about them in a magazine and they seem like an awesome way to find cheap vintage clothes and furniture!

Answers:
Estate sales are usually when someone dies or is put in a nursing home or perhaps is moving but taking minimal items and so pretty much all their belongings are put up for sale including furniture, kitchen items, etc. Pretty much just about everything in their home.

You can get some great buys sometimes as often the seller(s) will make really good deals so they don't have to haul the items off themselves and any money they get is more than they'd make if the donated the item to Goodwill or charity.

When people pass away, their relatives often sell most of their stuff. That's an estate sale.
Check your local classified ads, they're often listed there.
the two answers above are right on,but they left out the part that most estate sales are held after family members take what they want.i have never been to one yet that had anything worthwile.usually there is nothing of value left.also, many families call antique dealers to come and price things for them.if they spot something of value they buy it.it's always fun going to them, but i think in the long run, you'll find that you won't find what you would be interested in.
