Why do pillows that have feathers in feel so weird?

Are you sure that they are not still attached to a chicken?
Especially when they poke through the cloth and poke you in the face. Ouch. I think it was designed for chickens to lay eggs on so that they wouldnt break

Basically, there are two types of pillows. Down pillows are full of feathers; good quality down-filled pillows just use the soft material, while cheaper ones have many of the feather shafts still attached. Foam pillows are used by people who either are allergic to down, or just don't like the way it feels (like me).
