What characterstics would you choose for your dream house?
Question:This is for a project I am doing for a graduate class.
Answers:
I'm already living in my "dream" and it's a house that's not too big to take care of but big enough to house us and all our stuff. The only problem is it's location. It needs to have about 15 acres of ground around it; then it's be perfect!
I want a three bedroom, two bath home with a loft. I want a huge backyard because I love to be outdoors. It has to be in a nice quiet neighborhood. It doesn't matter if it is a brand new house or an older house.
enough rooms and bathrooms for each family member. a guest house for when family visits.
energy efficient
also the windows are placed for using the sun most effectively and using less a/c and heating.
good size bathrooms but not too big. its a pain to clean big bathrooms.
high celings but not too high, cuz hard to reach to change a lightbulb.
at least a three car garage with extra space for a workshop.
big yard so I can't see my neighbor if they're in their backyard.
Ranch style with a basement, but with the utility room on the main floor. Windows that tipped in for washing. LOTS of storage (I once lived in an old farmhouse that had a wall of cupboards between the kitchen & dining room - the top ones opened from both sides and in the kitchen, the bottom section was taken up by drawers.) Good sized bedrooms - not the 9x10' cubby holes in many new homes. Air conditioning and a high efficiency heating system. Point of use hot water heaters. Water softener. Ceiling fans. Wired for computer networking & phones. Lots of shelving in the basement for more storage (can you tell that I'm a pack rat?)
8000 sf four bed 4 bath and two half bath ( his and hers) and plenty of room to entertain.
1) A nice quiet neighborhood which I unfortunately do not live in.
2) A beautiful backyard with lots of plants- flowers and a vegetable garden; and a Swimming Pool- which I have but because of the inconsiderate ignorant neighbors- I can't enjoy.
3) A big bathroom with a Whirlpool Bathtub- which I recently installed.
4) No annoying barking dogs- which unfortunately I am surrounded by.
To sum it up my Dream home would be Peace and Quiet in the Neighborhood.
I'm afraid that it isn't going to happen in my lifetime, sad to say.
Hi! Start out with energy efficient, down to double pained gas windows, low maintenance yard with color and beauty. Location, location! Nice beautiful homes next to a dive still won't sell. NOW the home. Kitchens and bathrooms are where to spend the money. With that in mind all the latest appliances down to a small walk-in cooler and freezer, computer, 2 ovens & dishwashers and commericial range for entertaining..Todays family's are looking for that big open space to cook, watch their children and entertain same time. don't forget plenty of storage, cabinets, walk-in closet's and an organizer in the master closet along with that fireplace! Hardwood floors with tile in kitchen and over sized bathrooms.Since its my dream an outdoor kitchen is a must with all the newest appliances and a fire pit. French doors off the bedroom that leads to a hot tub and sauna should finish this home off! Pastel color on outside with beautiful red geraniums should reflect the beauty outside as well!!Three car garage with great neighbors. Don't forget the lighting, central air and granite counter tops!
the house that me, and my wife will love to stay together..and have fun with our children
