Electricity bill increases?
Question:My fiance and I moved into our apartment in October. Our heat & hot water is covered through rent and not by our electricity. Something fishy is going on with our electric bill. When we first moved in we used about 20KW month... It increased every month since... first about 5-10KW month until april where it jumped from 40kw to almost 110kw (april in new england... it was cold, we didnt use the A/C). In May it went back down to 98KW and now back to 115KW... Only in the last 30 days or less have we even turned on the A/C - Is something fishy going on here?

Do you have a lot of devices on standby? Charge lots of cell phones/laptops? Lightbulbs? Television, computers? All these things add up, especially as you are getting more settled into your place.
It is unlikely that something is wrong w/your meter, but you can call your utility or landlord if you are not sure.
To save on your bills, switch to compact flourescent bulbs (CFLs), and unplug VCRs and things that are on standby when you don't plan on using them for a long time.
if you have an electric stove, it could be that...if not, then I would call the electric company and have them check the meter, it could be faulty..if it is found to be faulty, then I woudl request a rebate from the electric company
You can discount the first month as an anomaly in that it may have been part of a month. The rest don't seem to be wildly divergent, check the meter reading days, maybe they are varying the day of the month they read the meter.
