What can be done to get starlings that are nesting in the attic out of your home?


Question:The birds have pecked through the shingles and into the attic. What can be done to drive them away from their nest and not make a new hole in a different place in the roof? (Can't shoot them, because it is in the city).

Answers:
get in the roof void and physicaly remove them
you may even need to lift the shingles to get to them
starlings are notorious you carring bird lice
you may have to use bird spikes or products like hot foot to kept them away
talk to a pest controller or search the internet for bird control products in your local area

by the way some people have sucess useing life like rubber snakes, fake birds of prey , even foil baloons with hawks faces on them or cut outs of cats with reflective eyes


It is not normal for birds to peck through shingles and roof decking in order to gain access to attic space. I'm guessing that your roof is in bad shape and they have found existing holes. Chances are that the only way to prevent them from gaining access to your attic is to repair your roof and close up all openings. Once you do that, I don't think they will return.
