Putrid smell coming from heat duct in living room...?
Question:The only other time I smelled a smell like this, it was when a mouse crawled into the back wiring of our oven and died. Now I am afraid one has died in our heat ducts? It is an old system with wall vents that run under to the basement furnace. How on earth am I going to locate it and remove it? Does it HAVE to be done professionally?

No it does not have to be done professinally. It will probably take a lot of work tho. you are going to have take part of the heating ducts off and shine a flashlight to see as far as you can to see if u can see a mouse. Which i would bet you that it is a mouse that has died in there.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE SMELL SHOULD STOP IN 7-8 DAYS WHEN THE RAT DETERIOATES COMPLETELY.
MAYBE THEN YOU NOT HAVE TO REMOVE IT.
