Can moths lay dormant in old carpet?

Question:I recently purchased a home and started seeing lots of tiny moths recently. This house had older carpet over hardwood floors which i removed in a couple rooms. The last couple of days I have seen these tiny moths all over the house but mostly in the area which still has carpet.

I have looked through the dry food I have and don't see any moths or worms in it so I don't think its a moth from there.

Any ideas?

Answers:
No, they can't. Look somewhere else. I bet they are in the kitchen. Only a guess, but I never saw any in mine, either.
