How should a refrigerator be positioned if it is moved from one location to another?
Question:Is it ok to lie it down without damaging it?
Answers:
A refrigerator can be layed down; IF you follow these common rules. It must never be turned completly over, just on its side. Once it is moved into place allow it to sit 4-6 hrs for the compressor oil to migrate back to compressor. Never start up a refrigerator, stop it and try to start it without waiting for the system to rebalance ( evaporator/ condenser balance) it will cause the unit to turn on/ off and wear down the starting componets. Tape doors shut and remove ever thing from inside before move. when tipped over clean under unit with vacuum.. good luck!
Upright only.
No it has to stay upright and then stay unplugged for I believe 12 hours...something to do with fluids and the motor...hope that helps.
upright, but if you do lay it down do not plug it in for at least 24-36 hrs.reason being is that the freon and compressor oil will mix causing it not to get cold. hope this helps on why you shouldn't lay it down.
best up, or let it stand for a day before plugging it in if you lay it down.
No. it should not lie down. it should be vertical all the time. There is liquid coolant inside. there could be problem.
Lay it down. no problem, but let it stand upright for at least an hour before switching it on again. The motor is oil filled, and the oil needs to get back down into the motor before restarting otherwise all the oil will be inside the cooler at the back.lol
right up can maintian the compressor oil.
The dangers already mentioned are real, but to make it easier to move, you can tip it (just not all the way on its side, and the less the better) to make it easier to carry or wheel on a dolly without hurting anything.
