Is a wall or a portable air conditioner better?
Question:When deciding to get a wall or a portable air conditioner, which one cools a room better if the portable aspect is not required? My room is about 350 sq ft but has 18 ft sloping ceiling. Your recommendations?

The efficiency for the two types is about the same(maybe the wall type is slightly better). You have to decide which is easier to install and the simple answer is - the portable unit. In either case you want to recirculate the room air for max cooling. If you cool outside fresh air you certainly have "fresh air" but you are also trying to cool 90 degree outside air vs trying to cool inside approx 70 degree air. Unless your room is an absolute mess it is better to recirculate inside air.
I'd say the wall conditioner cools a room better because it gets the air directly from outside.
