How do I stop my garden being infested with snails?
Question:I am sick of hearing them crunching underfoot. There are so many of the pesky little blighters because of all the rain. I am not interested in humanely hand-picking them and putting them somewhere else alive. Anything which bazazzes the lot sounds good to me.

Two ideas:
1. Snail bait. You can buy at local hardware store.
2. Put some beer out in an old foil plate or something. I have heard snails love it and will drink it and drown in it.

There are several ways to limit the snails in your yard but getting rid of them completely may be a whole new ballgame. You can put saucers of stale beer out for them, sprinkle sand around where you don't want them or buy snail baits. I have found the sand works best for me because I don't have many. The sand is to a snail is like walking on nails is to our bare feet.

Chuck slug pellets or sea salt across your garden, both work well, but leaves the snails all squishy when they die. Crushed egg shell deters them, and beer/'lager traps work really well. Or you could bribe any children you know to pick them all up and dispose of them. Just don't offer money, I said to my son 5p a snail, only just found out he was collecting them from the neighbours gardens as well - gullible me.
