Mould on the ceiling - how long does it take to grow?

Question:Everyday (!) for last two month I accidentally spilled water in my bathroom that is upstairs. The bathroom is carpeted and there is a huge puddle of water in it. Dowstairs, at the exact position under the bathroom there is a mould on the ceiling. I wonder whether 2 months are enough for the mould to create. If it is enough, then that's my fault.

Answers:
Depending on the climate where you live, mold can start to develope in 24 hours. If you have mold showing through to your ceiling, you can bet that the joists between your bathroom and the ceiling below are infected as well.

Mold can cause some very serious health issues. You should have someone who is licensed in mold remediation take a look at it and advise you on the best method to remove it.

wipe the spot really good with bleach. And its called...mold...not mould
mould can grow in hours, let alone days.
sorry to say it looks like your fault.
let it dry out and use a anti mould killer before repainting
Keep leaving little puddles and mould will not be the only problem you have - the ceiling may eventually fall!

Mould can grow very quickly given the right conditions - damp, moist, warm, a room not aired.

Black mould is cancer causing.

It is a good idea to clean up any spillages - and air your room out so that it dries properly.

If it is a structural fault and you rent the property notify the owner, it is their responsibility.

Keep in mind if you are responsible for the damage you may be given notice to quit.

Accidentally spilling water is no excuse for not cleaning up after yourself.

Have a great weekend putting your house in order.

The mould can be removed with bleach (do wear rubber gloves else you might get a skin condition too).
