Question:

Answers:
Not special as such....Three in one mix..1part peat or equivalent,1 part grit or sharp sand,1 part loam, (John Innes 2)...

it is best to use a special compost for bonsai trees. it is ready available in all good garden centers.
If you ask 10 bonsai people, you'll get 10 different soil recipe's. Basically you'll want 50% organic and 50% inorganic. For the organice, sift out all the very fine soil (using 1/16" screen) so it won't cake on the roots. If you wish, send me an email to:
wchoat@american-bonsai.com , and I'll send you my recipe'.
