I've disturbed a birds nest, any advice?

Question:I was cutting through a huge bush in my garden adn I've come across a full birds nest, I've left the garden as quickly as possible but I'm worried, have I just effectivley killed those babys? will their parents abandon them? I think they are Robins

Answers:
You should really limit any major trimming and cutting of trees and scrubs to the fall and winter seasons since during the spring...it is likely that you will disturb or destroy a nest. If you did not knock the nest down...it should be fine. Birds will abandon a nest if it is constantly disturbed but a one time disturubance is not going to cause them any distress. Even touching a nest (although not suggested) will not cause a bird to abandon as birds have a poor sense of smell. The only harm you may have caused is if you trimmed to the point where the nest is now exposed and would be more visable to predators.

they should be ok. the parent birds won't have been far away, and usually return to the nest.
you've gotta be carefull when fiddling with a huge bush
leave them with a bit of luck they will be ok
as a tree surgeon i have phoned rspb lots of times any they just tel me to put the nest back where you found it and leave it alone.

they dont come out for common birds

the mouth/farther may come back it may not. you can never tell

guess its nature
Don,t worry Robins are a very forgiving garden bird that get on well with us humans. Do you feed them if so reward them with some meal worms they will take them back to the young.
Hi
Just leave them alone and they will be fine.
If they are Robins they will go through a stage when they start falling out of the nest. At this stage don't worry, as this is a natural stage in their development. Robins at this stage are known as runners.
Don't worry!

Just keep well away from the nest, and don't disturb them. Even if you're HUGE hedge is only half done.
Provide the Robin's with plenty of food, thrown out into the garden from you're doorway. Any food that you have left over from dinner, tear up into small pieces (Stops possible choking) and throw it into the garden.

Many people believe that because it is Summer, birds have plenty to eat, with the growth of plants and the return of insects, spiders etc. . .

However, more birds die from starvation in the Spring and Summer than in the Autumn and Winter, as people assume that it is a plentiful time for food. This is wrong.

Good luck.
In our area an animal hospital takes on abandoned fledglings if thai proves to be the case.
Just leave them alone, sometimes when a human desturb the nest, they will leave human scent and the mom/dad bird will not come back. Just don't bother them anymore and hope they will be ok.
you should be ok, did you touch the nest? if not its ok
If you didnt touch them the parents would return, unless of course their nest is now exposed which would make it easy for predators to get to.

Only way to be sure is to check again later if the nest is in sight, but dont worry about it this sort of things happen a lot and the birds will just lay another lot of eggs.
