Ants in pot plants?


Question:I live in Sth Glos England & have a problem in my small garden with pesky ants living in my pot plants, especially pieris & rhodedendrons.Please help as I have been planting them in the garden,in winter I fear the frost!! Thank u all u experts

try to find a pest control concentrate
use a pyrithrin(safe for plants)
mix in a bucket..to recommended rates
then water pot plants slowly untll liquid runs out the bottom of pot ...
i don't know the products u can get there but look for active ingredence like
pyhrithrin , bifenthrin ,deltametrin,fipronil,chlorpyr ifos or permethrin


get some ant powder
Ant powder, or Nipon gel.
I usually bury some spriggs of Rosemary in the compost when putting stuff in pots - apparently they don't like the scent and I very rarely get ants in my pots! (Slugs now, that's a DIFFERENT story!)
I also find that keeping the pots well watered seems to stop ant invasion as they don't get the soil dry enough & undisturbed for long enough to move in.
Ants in pot plants can be troublesome. Try submerging the entire pot in a tub or bucket of water and spray the ants as they flee their submerged housing. You have to also get the queen ant, she only emerges after a while. The queen ant is much larger and longer and has a thicker body than the other ants. So take some time to get rid of this problem.
