My maytag side by side freezer is icing up on the bottom why?

Seems as if the door seal is leaking. The technology in that refrigerator should be able to cope with normal atmospheric frosting. Smear a little petrolum jelly around the door seal and make sure that there is nothing in the folds of the seal to prevent it from working properly. lol

like frosting? thats normal, you just need to defrost it, or turn the temperature down slightly.
left spen too long, dirty coils, water pan full.
You may have too much humidity in your house. You say freezer - the coldest (air) always collects at the bottom . Any moisture freezes there first.
If it is an automatic defrosting freezer then the defrost circuit may have failed. Most likely the defrost timer.

Under the front grill there should be a service diagram showing where the timer is located. They are not very much money to buy a new one.

If it is a manual defrost freezer then this is normal and you just need to defrost it.
check the seal around the bottom of the door.
