How do I know when the peaches are ready to be harvested from the tree?

Question:Some of the peaches are big and green but turning sort of orange or red, and some are small and green.

Answers:
When you take hold of one give it a very slight twist, as though you were going to pick it. If it comes right off into your hand, it's ripe. I'm talking about an ever-so-gentle touch; not a definite twist.

When they start to fall.
You want them to have almost no green - grab them gently and give them a twist - if they fall off easily into your hand, they're ready. If you have to yank them, not quite!
when they start to get soft
As the other people said try giving the fruit a very gentle twist. Another way it to look at the color of the fruit. It should be yellow to a dark pink or red in spots. Green means it needs to ripen some more. If you do pick some that are still too green you can put them into a brown paper bag. This will help ripen the peaches even after they're picked.
