no. its just a nasty occurance twice a yr you have to deal with. alot of myths out there. the only way to avoid them is not drive so much and stay inside. you cant eliminate them because they breed and live in the grass. grass is everywhere. it would take some serious ariel spraying and then you would have health concerns so love bugs are better left alone.

Love bugs seem to be attracted to gasoline fumes! They love cars, not grass. To keep the bug guts from sticking to your vehicle, you can spray it with vegetable oil--some store brands are not too expensive. What really works is W-D40 spray lubricant. It is more expensive, but it works. W-D40 also will help remove the bugs which are already stuck on your vehicle.
A "car bra" will also work, but you have to clean the bug guts off of them, too.
You need a black light to illiminate them. If you wish to eliminate them as in getting rid of them, go to a pharmacy. Ask the pharmacist for a "crab kit". He'll know what your talking about. The kit comes with a couple of packets that contain a gel to smear around your pube region, a can of spray to spray your clothing and bedding, and a crab comb. Man, I hope you didn't have taco salad with that or you may have to do your moustache too. I believe I would be just a little more careful.
If they are not on a fruit or vegetable plant get a plant safe spray and spray them, I hear Eco products work well for that sort of thing.
