Best way to rid home of odor from dirt crawl space?
Question:Just keep baking soda and scented candles in the house and keep things clean? Is that all I can do? Any other advice? Please.
Answers:
I have had a few friends put lime powder in their crawl space.
Get a dehumidifier, humidity may be causing the scent to linger.
You can put orange peels and lemon peels through out the house maybe in the window. The citrus would pull in the odor.
buy the good smelling stuff that you plug into your home. it helps a lot. u can get it pretty much at any store too like wal mart.
Dude!? what the hell (or who) do you have burried down there to need to cover up the stench!!? you have issues...
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON CHEAP CANDLES, GO WITH THE TRIPLE SCENTS THEY WORK REALLY WELL, ALSO YOU COULD TRY A GOOD PLUG IN AIR FRESHNER, OR ONE THAT IS AUTOMATIC, THOSE KEEP THE HOUSE SMELLING GOOD, AND YOU CAN PUT THEM ON A TIMER, TO SPRAY
Hire someone to go into the crawl space just to make sure an animal didn't get trapped down there and die, I've never heard of dirt crawl spaces being so smelly they stink up the whole house. If that doesn't work try a dehumidifier. and if that doesn't work candles, potpourri, and air fresheners are going to be your best friends until you move.
Longer lasting solution would be to treat the problem rather than the effect. Cover the dirt with 6 mil plastic sheeting. Seal any joints with tape. This will also reduce moisture.
I had that horrible odor from our crawl space and I used charcoal under the house.
make sure there are block vents in the crawl space and make sure they are open in the summer months...if there arent have several installed...
