Unknown bugs on our cherry tree...?
Question:I have a cherry tree in my back yard, along with five other fruit trees, that seems to be taken over by bugs. they are living on the leaves at the very end of the branches, mostly the new leaves. they look just like ladybug larva except i swore they had green stripes not orange and i can't find anything on the internet about any larva with anything other than orange stripes. the leaves are covered in black balls of something, each ball is about the size of the tip of a pin, looks like poop or something similar. i also found five or so ladybugs near the other bugs. is it a different type of ladybug i can't find online or something else. i'm planning on leaving them alone until i get back from the nursery and i really don't want to spray them with chemicals if they are ladybugs.anyone got anything? they aren't living on any of the other trees and they are all close together (the trees) if that makes a difference.

Lacewing larva have the same body shape as ladybug larva, eat the same things, and are found in the same kinds of places. Could they be lacewings? http://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&k...
Also, there are many different kinds of ladybugs and not all the larva look the same. Check out these ladybug larva pics: http://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&k...
Sounds to me like you haven't sprayed anything for prevention. I don't think you can save the cherries. Next year get on a spray program.
