Question:there are little pincher bugs, ladybugs, misquitos, big hairy spiders, black ants, and these wierd beetles (they look like fire flies) all around my house. how can i get rid of them without an exterminator. any home remedies?? please!
Answers:
Electric bug zapper is nice if you can stand the loud zapping.
Citronella candles can help with flying insects. Citronella comes from grasses found in Asia, C. nardus and C. winterianus, not the lemon eucalyptus Eucalyptus citridora. Some citronella oil products, however contains active ingredients from Eucalyptus citriadora that may contain some PMD, an insect repellent that is almost as effective as DEET.
Don't expect citronella candles to hold back a swarm of mosquitoes, but burning citronella candles may help scare insects away from your backyard. Don't burn them in the house.
Flying and crawling insects are searching for water and food. Remove any standing water and make sure no food residue is left about.
My mother used to put red pepper across the doorstep every night before bed to keep the ants out.
If you have toddlers and/or pets, you shouldn't put down pepper, it will irritate their nose, eyes and mouth if it is sniffed or licked from the floor, paws or fingers.
Strong Essential Oils can help repel spiders. (Canola, cedarwood, citronella, garlic, lavender, cinnamon, peppermint, tea tree oil, etc.) Combine 5 drops of any of these oils to 1 quart of water and a bit of dish detergent. Spray around desired areas.
