I have loads of jUnK!?
Question:im going to uni in august and i really want to declutter. any ideas to organise myself?
Answers:
Get three boxes and label them "Keep", "Give Away", and "Trash". Take one area at a time - maybe the dresser one day, the books another, the closet another, under the bed another, the knick-knacks another, etc. Be ruthless! Unless you see yourself actually using that item again - give it away - it's easier to do if you remember you are blessing someone else who really will use it. With clothing - don't donate to charity clothing that is stained or has holes. Stuff that doesn't fit you but is still nice - give it away - don't hold onto clothing "in case" you wear that size again someday. Also - games/electronics that are broken or missing pieces - that stuff is trash. And all those "sentimental" items? Nothing wrong with a shoebox full - but most of it can go - you have the memories - you don't need that movie stub or that dried up flower lol. One good idea is to take pictures of things that you think you may miss - that way you atleast have the picture. Just do a bit every day - keeping focused on whatever area you're working on. When a box gets full - deal with it. Take the trash and empty it, take the stuff to donate it and bag it up and put it in the garage or somewhere until you go to a charity - and the stuff you'll keep - put away neatly for now unti you're ready to pack. You'll get through it. Good luck!
have your parents buy a rack
Get rid of ANYTHING you haven't used within the last year. Set aside one weekend and do NOTHING but organize your stuff. Find a book in the library about organization...there are gazillions of them. Get your materials ready before that weekend. Start bags to take clothes, etc. to give to the Salvation Army, bags for trash, bags for things that belong or are going to other people. Then make a keeper pile and sort it. Go through it all again to make SURE you need to keep it all. Set aside a little money for the correct bins, holders, boxes, etc, to keep it all organized. It will be worth the money. Take a picture of it all, before and after, so you remember what you DON'T ever want it to look like again.
Do a car boot sale to get rid of it and to get yourself some extra cash for Uni!
yes send it my way
Yes, if there is really loads, hire a skip and dump it; very cathartic. If it is good stuff and you don't want it, give it to a charity shop like Mind or Oxfam. In this way you will feel good and virtuous, as well as clearing the clutter from your life.
Put everything you do not want or use-outside for a yard sale. Throw away all of the old papers and junky items. Then, buy shelves, dressers, desks, filing cabinets for the rest.
Yes, sort through all papers but whatever you don't want that has your SSN or other pertinent info, SHRED IT! You're opening the door to a new phase in your life, so have fun and declutter. Spend time with your mum and tell stories about this and that while you unclutter.
make two piles 1 save , 2 throw out
Then get some storage boxes, hangers to organized
Have a garage sale and get rid of all your junk...sell it cheap if you no longer want it.
Sell it on www.ebay.co.uk
Definitely a must for a car boot sale, Get a couple of friends round and have a fun day. See if they have things they can contribute. Don't forget to asks relations Mums Dads they can always find something to contribute. Have a great day you will ache from laughing and have been chatted up numerous times.
Freecycle. They are loads of local yahoo groups that give stuff away that other people may be able to use - you get tonz of emails, but you will get rid of stuff to a good home.
General rule - if you've not used it in the last 2 years, are you likely to?
box stuff up that you want to keep and put in another box what you dont want. Then sell by either doing a car- boot sale or as you have access to the internet, you can sell on ebay or gumtree
Hey try registering with "Freecycle" you will be able to get rid of loads on there i expect, its all free to advertise and no one is allowed to charge for items they are giving away, but its a quick way to get rid of loads of stuff you no longer want or need.
write a list of things toy really want or need and get rid of everything else. keep notes to remind yourself on a daily basis, so a little goes each day instead of killing yourself and it will teach you to pace yourself. Always plan ahead and don't let things get the better of you in the process of clearing out! Good luck
