How much water does your lawn w/sprinkler system use each time you water?
Question:O.k., I know this is a virtually impossible question--just looking for some ideas...we installed sprinklers on appr. 3/4 acre. Two days and 4 watering sessions later (2 each day:we're trying to establish lawn/trees) we used 9,500 gallons of water!!!
This blows my mind--doesn't seem plausible/correct. Landscaper says that's not out of the ordinary. Cost aside--OMG that much water to have lawn/landscape?!
Answers:
Sounds about right. You could probably have a well dug for your irrigation system and save a fortune on water. And once the lawn and trees are established, you can cut back to 2 times a week or so depending on where you live, type of lawn, etc.

Well ,if you figure a regular kitchen/bath faucet will put out 2.5 gal. per minute. I'd say you may be putting out 5-7 gal. per minute. I am only guessing because I don't know what the output is on the sprinklers. That's a min. of 300 gal. per hour. Our water bills where we live are $100 per month. So, I don't water unless it is a necessary. Then it's only plants, not grass..
