Good house plant?

Question:I've never owned a plant before but I'm interested in getting a plant or two for my room. I've heard that they keep the air clean (which makes sense) and that's the main purpose it would serve for me. That said, I don't know plants at all. Can they really be beneficial to the air in your home or in a room? If so, any recommendations?

I live in Southern Louisiana if that makes a difference for house plants.

I have also heard about the air quality benefits of plants ... NASA actually did a study on it.

Spider Plants are supposed to be one of the best "air cleaners". I have lots of them. They are easy to care for.

If you always forget to water things, get a succulent like a Jade Plant, or cacti.

a clivia is a very good house plant it will withstand neglect and drought and will be happy if you do not repot it, it also flowers for me twice a year bright orange

I would recommend a philodendron they grow good and require very little maintenance.
I would suggest either a peace lilly or a spider plant or maybe even both. I have both and like both. The peace lilly is so pretty when the white flower blooms. The spider plant looks so awesome when it produces "baby spiders" hanging off it.
