I have an ant question?
Question:These ants are small black ants that are in the thousands in my yard. They have many trails going into the trees and traveling along the roots. I found a nest under some stones I have around a small tree in my yard. I tried to get rid of them with this ant and termite killer but after it dries they go write over the area again. I put hot shot on them and it kills them instantly but I know they will come back. They started getting into the house today. They tend to like sweet things making a trail to the humming bird feeder. Last year they got into a sprite bottle in the house that had a loose lid. I had a pest control guy come over and he sprayed this stuff that was suppose to get on them and it keeps them from making cartilage but they came back again this year. when I lifted the stone in my yard they scatter really fast getting on my hand but they dont sting at all. They just infest and badly. Does anyone have any tips?

Terro mixed with a little sugar - they take it back to the queen, she dies, no more ants. You can get it from Lowe's.
Boiling water , poured on the nest .Are they actually causing a problem, or just there ?
It sounds like the problem is all over your yard. I have had ant nests in my yard. I used Diazinon. You spread it out over your lawn and water it. It also kills grubs. Anyway, I found it worked wonders with the ants. However the EPA had it taken off retailers' shelves in 2004. According to the site I will list below, homeowners can still use it...if you can find someone who still has it.
Make sure these are not carpenter ants you have. They can really damage wood. They don't eat it, they bore into it.
I'd get rid of the humming bird feeder and other "sweet" things that tend to attract them.
