How does whirlpool setting differ from filter on above ground pool pumps?

Question:on top of my pool filter there are a number of settings but i am trying to figure out how the whirlpool and filter settings differ? does the whirlpool setting still filter the water? what one is the best for regular use?

Answers:
The whirlpool feature bypasses the filter. The reason for this is that the filter will decrease the water flow and pressure, so bypassing it will create greater flow from the return line.

Run the setting on Filter at all times unless performing a backwash or if you want to be in the whirlpool styled water. But ensure you turn it back to filter after you are done with the whirlpool.
