How do you get rid of fruit Bats?

Question:The fruit Bats have invaded the space between my roof and ceiling and made it their permanent abode. Any suggestions about how to get rid of them?

Answers:
Contact a wildlife protection society who will be able to advise you on how and when the colony can be relocated. They should not be disturbed by amateurs.

Lure them away with fruit?
Don't get rid of me! lol
I'm guessing they're the same as other bats and are protected, which means you can't touch them. I had bats in my loft last June which meant all of my belongings were held hostage by them til about November when they left.

Once they leave you can get holes blocked up (although they can get through the tiniest of cracks in the roof). That may prevent them coming back, but in the mean time there's not much you can do.
you change residence, it's easiest.
heres what you do.. you get 1 gallon of bleach.. one gallon of ammonia.. get everyone out of your house... get a 5 gallon bucket.. fill it half way with water... put the bleach in... carry it up to your attic entrance.. place the bucket down... with the gallon of ammonia in the other hand... throw it in the bucket and leave immediatly.. lest youd like to become a casualty as well... come back three days later assuming youve got some kind of vents in your attic.. clean up dead bats.
You cant touch them, theyre protected like all bats

It's a bit of a catch22 im afraid
get a cat or a ferret
You can buy a Pest repellent that you plug in and lets of a sound that will annoy them so they will leave, it is harmless to them but they don't like being near it . Look up on internet i'm sure you will find one.
Good luck
I don't know if they are protected where ever you are. If not, then I would try to put something up there that they dont like, perhaps a cat, something with a strong smell or a bright light. I do simpathise, they do make an awfull lot of mess.
Like all bats they leave their roost at night. Go out at dusk/dawn and check out where they are leaving/entering from. Then the next night check out your attic and make sure there aren't any stragglers or babies. Then block the entrance.

Before hand though, make a bat box according to the size of the bats you are evicting and stick it close to the entrance you are blocking, that way they'll have an alternative roost and not try to find another entrance in to your attic. Directions to making a bat box are found on the net.
Bats are highly territorial, and once they start hanging (!) around your place, it's for keeps.
They start coming into residences because of the availability of fruit nearby - often they leave once the fruit is no longer in season.
You can:
Fumigate your loft till they go, then seal all openings.
Place nets to block their entry.

All you need to do is discorourage them for a couple of weeks from resting around your property - they'll eventually look for friendlier hosts.
First of all the batsshouldn't be harmed, they are protected and well, they don't actually intend to disturb people.

You should start by contacting the wildlife protection in your area.

Then you should check out http://www.batcon.org/home/index.asp?idp...

This could be a great opportunity to learn more and discover suprising things.

Good luck in finding an arrangement for everyone.
Fruit bats? What country are you in? Fruit bats live in South America & the middle east, but not in the UK. Those in the UK are insectivores and protected by law. If you are in the UK and are bothered by this roost, contact your local authority who will know of licensed bat handlers in your area.
If you are elsewhere, contact a wildlife expert through a local zoo or similar for advice. Bats don't do any harm to humans, but their presence can be destructive to property. Please have them moved by an expert.
