I had this same problem in my old house. I tried everything from sprays to foggers.
Eventually I found something that worked like magic ants hate vinegar. I used a spray bottle with vinegar and water I sprayed inside and outside where they were coming in. I used this for 1 day and never had anymore problems since. I hope this helps it's cheap and non messy.

Wherever they are coming in at, go outside from that spot about 10 feet, dig a hole place 1 cup of sugar in it, they will eventually go there to get their food.
I asked that same question on here, and someone told me borax... but a 'barrier' around your house, and clean your counter tops with it.
Watch them to see where they're coming in at and put some bay leaves there. Ants hate the smell. I would also suggest going around the perimeter of your home with ant killer - just be careful if you have little kids or pets.
first try to find out from where they come then put some powder fenugreek around there home and they will never ever come to your home
We found some really tiny red ants in our kitchen the year we bought our home. Since they were in the kitchen and in my cupboards, I really didn't want to use insecticides to get rid of them. One day, I walked into the kitchen to find a line of them leading down into my sink and a mass of them there on a scrap of food that was in the drain plug. I happened to have a can of Lysol in my hand, so I sprayed the little suckers with that. They IMMEDIATELY rolled up in little balls and died (welllll a few of them kicked a few times). I used Lysol on them until they were truly gone (4 years now and no sign of them).
For ants on the counter top, wipe down the counter top with white undiluted vinegar. To prevent ants from coming into the house, or getting into cupboards, sprinkle dried mint or red pepper where they are entering the house and in the cupboards. If you know where the anthills are, make a mixture of 50 percent borax (sold in laundry aisle of supermarkets) and 50 percent confectioner's sugar and place near anthill. The ants are attracted to the sugar and carry the fatal borax/sugar combination back to the nest to feed the queen and other ants. Soon all ants will be dead. Do not put this mixture where children and pets can ingest it. To get rid of anthills, pour 3 gallons of boiling water down them. This is best when done when the ants are active and at the surface. Do not do it near flowers or they will die.
