What is 'fill dirt'?
Question:I think it's what's know as top soil in the UK. Have I got that right?
Answers:
It's not top soil, it is just junk dirt to fill a low spot. Fill dirt isn't good for growing things.
Is that a Mowbray lion?
yeah. its low grade dirt. something you would use to "fill" holes and that sort of thing. it doesn't hold as much nutrients as you would find in a "garden" or "potting" soil.
Dirt you fill holes and stuff with.
It can mean a couple of things. First, if you are planting something it can mean the dirt removed to make the hole. Second fill dirt is simply dirt brought in to either make the land higher,or to even out the lot.
No fill dirt can have anything in it. Concrete, crap anything. It's just fill. Top Soil is top soil here as well.
Its dirt used to fill a hole. In Canada we put top soil on top of it
Property owners typically need fill for landscaping purposes such as leveling an area for construction purposes.
Fill dirt is earthy material which is used to fill in a depression or hole in the ground. While fill dirt is usually subsoil (soil from beneath the top soil) and underlying soil parent material which has little soil organic matter or biological activity. Fill dirt is taken from a location where soil is being removed as a part of leveling an area for construction, it may also contain rocks and stones as well as earth.
Fill dirt should be as free of organic matter as possible since organic matter will decompose creating pockets of empty space within the fill which could result in settling. Settling of the fill can result in damage to any structures built on the fill.
yeah.
Hi,
I knew a guy with no arms or legs that lived in a ditch.his name was Phill. I also knew another guy with no arms or legs that spent the night on my front lawn...his name was Dewey.
Fill dirt is basically sterile and does not grow anything without help. I bought 60 yards and filled in a side of my yard with it. I spent 3 years tilling in manure and clean weed free grass clippings and suddenly had plush dirt. I made a slanted frame with chicken wire on it and shoveled the dirt thru it to get the junk out. Glad I'm not 32 any more it was way hard work.
