Is there such thing as a furnace and air conditioner in one unit?
Question:House has older furnace which I will be replacing. I have no real access for a/c unit and wondered if there was some brand of machine that both heat and cooled. House has 3000 sqft and is California, very temperate, no snow.
Answers:
Absolutely, and there's even a split system that combines A/C and a swamp cooler if you live in a climate conducive to swamp coolers (hot, no humidity). Be sure that you have a licensed professional do you work, otherwise if there's a problem, not only will you have no recourse to take, you're insurance could make you pay for any damages caused by the unit.
Central Air!
I have a window unit that has heat and air. I am not for sure of the brand b/c I am at work. I will check and get back with you if you would like. email me at babyheadah@yahoo.com
only if it's forced air
the condenser is outside that cools the fluid with a fan
the funance just pushes the air around with another fan when the gas unit is not heated.
I'd go with a heat pump. You can do electric or geo-thermal. Either will probably work in California. The geo-thermal is a more expensive installation, but will save money in the long run since it uses the constant temperature of the ground for both heating and cooling.
In most modern heat/AC units the furnace is on the bottom, the AC attaches to the top of the furnace with wiring running to the outside condenser unit.
the furnace/AC unit will usually fit within a 4ft by 4ft area.
you may want to think about an electric heat pump. They both heat and cool. Only problem is the rolling blackouts could be a bother if you are having them.
Their is a system called split/system call a local retail shop and ask for heat/air con unit-if its mainly warm tropic temp .ceiling fans and air will be your main priority
also i have seen working a heater that runs off paper pallets dust pellets (like those free standing log enclosed burners )it drops pellets automatic from a shoot their the size of a Chick pallet-any way if its warm like Darwin Australia in the tropics ya wont need a heater 33cel everyday- hope it helps markiss
we have reverse cycle air conditioner here. It heats the air in winter and cools it in summer.
