Bugs, bugs and more bugs..?
Question:I am feeling very itchy right now. I have found like 5 different types of bugs in my house today. Is there anything I can do that would eliminate some of these pesky things? I have seen sow bugs and house centapieds...but now I am getting other little bugs. Not only is this making me squirm, my daughter is freaking out. Is there something I could put outside the perimieter of my house that would make it less appealing. Any advise would be sooooo helpful.
Thanks!

The sow bugs (Isopoda) are not a danger, just an irritation, for they only eat dead vegitation. Centipedes, however, can deliver quite a sting, especially to a curious child who might handle one (since you have a child in the home, make sure what they are. Look at one closely. If it has two legs per segment, it is a centipede. If it has four legs per segment, it is a millipede and is harmless).
Keeping some critters out can be done by removing dense vegitation near the home (where they like to hang out in) and making sure that you have tight-fitting screens and door/window insulating strips. Also remove anything that is attracting them, such as open foodstuffs, standing water, etc.
Homeowner sprays are generally less efficient and shorter-lived than professionally applied treatments. Contact a licensed exterminator in your area for advice and assistance. If you can, try to avoid the pesticide approach, for the pesticides may kill beneficial predators (spiders, ladybugs, etc.) that are keeping even more insects from entering your home.
If the problem is completely out of control, you might have the entire house fumigated. Expensive!
Not much help - sorry. Good luck with your problem!
Buy Chinese chalk and chalk all around your doors and anywhere else you think they are coming in. You can buy the chalk at any Chinese market. I have been using it for years and it is great and does not seem to effect animals or people only the bugs as they will not cross it as long as the chalk lines are all solid. Good luck.
