Living in Archway N19?
Question:Hi, I'm moving to St. John's Way, Archway. Can anyone tell me if its a safe area? I'm nervous about walking home at night but my friends say its fine and I shouldn't worry. Plus we're ground floor with a garden and one neighbour has been burgled twice in four years! Does anyone know this area?

I used to live there and my husband was born and bred in Holloway. Honestly its not the best area. Like all over London you need to be careful, keep you windows locked, newly arrived people are robbery targets. Say hello to your neighbor's but keep yourself to yourself. make sure you have a security light in the garden, its a must.
The up side is its a great location for getting around London.
Close to the tube, good shopping in close by Holloway.
Good access for Brent cross by bus. Not far from Islington and upper street. Just have spacial awareness at all times.
I used to live their many years ago it was OK don't suppose it has changed that much..did you know that Osama Bin Laden used to live in that area too
It is OK there for a relatively low cost place to live. Tuffnell Park which is just down the road is a bit of a dump, but nothing that would worry me too much. I wouldn't be overly worried about walking home at night as long as you stick to the busier roads and use common sense. I know three girls that live in Archway and they say it is quite safe.
As for being burgled twice in four years - that is nothing unusual for London.
