Why are so many flys in my bathroom?
Question:I went in my bathroom just awhile ago and noticed that there were about 15 to 20 flys in there. I have no idea where they would be coming from. We just have one window in there and it is always shut we even put weather proofing caulk around the windows last winter and the door to the bathroom also is almost always closed. I heard of drain flys but these are pretty big ones and are the size of a regular fly. We have only one a/c vent on the floor and no air ducts or anything up top. I was just wondering what i should do or where they might be coming from? Should i call the exterminator or would that be just a waste of time?
Thanks!

There could be several possible sources and/or causes. How about that trash basket? Any discarded feminine products sitting in there more that a few hours? Look around the base of the toilet where it meets the floor. Any mis coloring or signs of even the smallest leak?
Next, having had three daughters of my own under the counter/vanity could be a leak or some funky stuff going on. Pull out any/all drawers and all that stuff to make you beautiful. Look for signs of a pipe leaking under there. (Yes Yes Yes, pull all that stuff out of there...so you can Look)
I personally would call an exterminator...
i hate bugs!
and they may be able to tell you where they are coming from...
what if something fell in your vent...and they love it in there.
eeeeewww.
Nice answers people. Obviously this person is serious and I'm sure not nasty. They must be coming in from somewhere. I would ask an exterminator or study up online. Sorry I can't be of more help and all the other answerers are a bunch of knuckleheads.
one day i found a lot of fly in my basement after it flooded. somehow the drain got fly eggs in it and they hatched later turned in to fly. i cleaned my basement with straight bleach to kill any eggs. clean all and ever thing u can with full stretch bleach. ventilate room.
You have flies in the bathroom for the same reason there are flies around garbage cans, a source of food. Something in your bathroom is a source of food. Find the source and clean it up. Time for a thorough cleaning, top down, everything and everywhere. I'll bet there is something like wax or spillage around the toilet where they are breeding. Body wastes are a source of food for flies, which is why you see them on dog waste in the backyard...
