What is a hob?
If you cant afford to hire a electrician ( shut the electricity off to the plug at the breaker box first if you can ) then be very careful and take the cover off there should be one flat head screw in the middle of the cover plate. Take that off then there should be two screws at the top of the receptacle loosen them again very carefully pull the receptacle out of the box and look on the back there could be anywhere between 2 and 5 wires attached to the outlets back side 1 or 2 whites this is your neutral 1 or 2 /other colored this is your hot. and maybe if it is newer wiring a green or bare wire that is your ground. carefully don't touch the plug at all you cut the hot wires if there is one the just cap it off and push it back in the box. If there is two the use your needle nosers and hold them together and put a cap on them and put them back in the box.
Then you can be pretty sure you are safe from electrical shock and all you have to do is cut the ground and neutral or neutrals and make then together cap them off with a wire nut and you are good just put a blank cover over your hole. and that is how you do it.
Under new UK laws you have to get a qualified electrician to either do or certify the work. The certificate will be required when you sell the property.
Ditto U have to be Part P registered to work on domestic properties. The bit at the end of his statement isnt true thought although u have to provide a Periodic Test And Inspection report when selling the property which will test that and all other circuits. Get a Electrician to do this 4 u its alot of hassle and can b dangerous if u dont know what ur doing.
